The purpose and execution of interventions
Self-belief does not necessarily ensure success, but self-disbelief forebodedly spawns failure, these words shared by the world-renowned psychiatrist, Albert Bandura in his book Self-efficacy: the sour of control, offer an exceptional reminder of the importance of being a caring support to children we work with (1997). For child development specialists, teachers, parents and others snarled in the intervention process for children with exceptionalities it is of utmost importance to assure the child learn to have a healthy egoism and view of their abilities.
A series of Civil Rights Acts starting in 1965, established that all children have equal access to a free and appropriate commandment. The process started with the Elementary & supplementary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), followed by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 revise EASA and Section 504 was established providing grant funding to cultivates serving those students who were at risk academically and financially (US Dep. of Ed., 2010).
These changes offered hope to an entire community of children deprived of an education due to handicaps that public school was not equipped or willing to accommodate. Change continued in name and rights with each revision to the currently known No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and works in continuative with Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). These Acts provide that all children have the right to a quality education in a drug-free golosh environment that provides the least restrictive means possible for this education (Hunt & Marshall, 2005). Provisions are implemented in school through use of individualized plans that help address a child Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and familys needs.
