Life Without Chiefs
In a modern world we raging in, there exist a line separating the rich and the poor. Whether it be a monarchy or a republic, wealth and power is eer the variable for the existing division among the mountain. In my opinion, all of these were the results of amour propre and selfish ambitions of leaders from the different civilizations thousands of years ago.
Tracing keister to history, 98% of our existence as species depended on hunting and concourse for survival. Our ancestor lived in small bands containing no more than 50 people where no dominant chief ever existed. For instead a long time, our ancestors managed to live like this by having reciprocality, a generous exchange with others. In this kind of exchange, individuals persuadeed to be voluntary and generous because people do not lay out how much they expected to get back or when they expect it back. When compared to our modern world, this kind of exchange is pretty amazing. People train the freedom to get what they want with the unspoken responsibility to theatrical role what they have just like what the !Kung bushmen do in their camp.
As time pass by, leaders came into existence. There were 3 kinds of them, the headman, the oversize man and the chief.
The headman and the big mans lead have no formal authority among the people. They only deal out as a reference for something they are good at and nothing more. The headman and big man earn their backup by being of service to others and by generosity. Thus, their title obliges them to parcel of land what they have to their people. Some even share more than what they derriere give, making them starve for several days because of their status. Also, the leaders and the people are treated the same and generosity was still preserved.
