Magdalena Abakanowicz was born in Poland in 1930, during bingle of the most sanguine decades in all history. As an artist, her thoughts and views were shaped rapidly by several traumatic experiences. This compares to that of Backs (Fichner87) where from a distance, all eighty theatrical role sculptures look like perfect human backs.
