When we speak of the Bible, we speak of a collection of books. The earliest of these existed in oral form long before they were written down, except attained in a written form numerous centuries before the birth of Our Lord. The Old Testament, was written over a period of about a thousand grades. The writing began about 3,500 years agone, and was complete about 2,400 years ago (Revell 42). Although most of the Old Testament draw uprs were Jewish, many of them were separated by large distances. Some of them wrote from where Israel is today. Others wrote in Iraq, Syria, and Egypt, though in those years the names of some of the countries were contrary (Callan, Levy). Many of those who wrote the Bible were not authors by profession, but were shepherds, kings, doctors, farmers, fishermen and others. These men were called apart by God to speak and to write down his message (Gipp).
