Ethical and Legal Issues in Nursing
The honourable and legal issues of care for are an distinguished concept for nurses. Nurses are put in situations that become either an ethical or a legal issue in nursing practice today. It is important for nurses to follow ANA codes when it comes to these issues. Common situations with ethical implications for nurses take reservation decisions about the allocation of time and resources, what and how much education to share with patient ofs and their families, how to manage and deal with colleagues professionally, and how to resolve problems when desires and needs of patients and families struggle with institutional policies. More dramatic ethical issues for nurses include assisting families making end-of-life decisions, triaging patients in emergency settings, managing excruciating pain with large doses of narcotics, and advocating for a patient even when the nurse does not agree with the patient(Chitty&Black,2011,p.99).
