The rime Entirely is written by Louis MacNeice. The poem contains three stanzas of eight lines each, and also has a rhyme strategy of a,b,c,b,d,a,d,a, which remains constant throughout the entire poem. This poem, I feel, has a more negative attitude towards the concept of exclusively in the sense that the actor does not believe that it can be achieved. The root stanza talks about our accreditledge. The first couple of lines in this stanza are If we could get the hang of it totally/ It would take too long. I think what the author is hard to grade here is that no human can know something entirely because we humans do not have that focus to put in all our vim into just one thing, we get distract with other aspects of our lives. In the next couple of lines the author talks about how all we know are the words in songs, and we dont truly know them because there is a deeper meaning to them. At the end of this stanza the author talks about when we eavesdrop on the great Presences. I think what the author is talking about here, is us trying to understand exactly why God put us on this earth, but even when we try our hardest to do this we all learn the smallest bit of information.
The second stanza talks about the blessedness of humans. He says that if we could find happiness entirely we would feel no fear and we would not be able to get distracted by the sounds of the urban center or the changes of season. Then we hit a shift in the stanza and the author talks about the globe of the happiness of humans. This reality is that happiness does not exist entirely because we do get distracted by the seasons and when we when we hear the sounds of the city the love is lost.
