The Discipline of Social Psychology
Psychology, liter solelyy known as the register of mind, is the positive and scientific subject of the rational cognitive operation of human beings and animals and their outgrowth behavior. It involves an analyzed study of reasoning ability of human beings and animals, and the parcel of their mental functioning to their behavior. Sociology is the study of the behavior of an individual or a group, and therefore it involves the evaluation of how people interact, exchange value and formation of groups their development. Social psychological science is therefore the scientific study of the peoples’ thoughts, behavior, and feelings in reference to how they affect or they argon affected by other people in the society. For instance, peoples’ mental functioning and behavior is greatly influenced by their childhood geographical locations, the finis of their primary socializations, and their social groups (Penrod, 2007).
Psychology is subdivided into many disciplines to facilitate its study depending on the application of the study.
Other than social psychology, there are other disciplines of psychology such as health psychology, initiate psychology, global psychology and legal psychology among others. Social psychology is differs from all these disciplines due to its uniqueness in its study and application. This is because all other disciplines are based on the application of psychology to solve the problems arising in the areas being studied, but social psychology is concerned with the effects of social life of an individual to his/her mental functioning and behavior.
