DIRECTIVE 2007/65/EC OF THE European PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 11 December 2007 amending Council guiding 89/552/EEC on the coordination of certain provisions lay down by law, regulation or administrative military action in Member States concerning the pursuit of television bare activities
(Text with EEA relevance) THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Community, and in particular Articles 47(2) and 55 thereof,

of the regulatory framework to take score of the impact of structural change, the spread of information and communication technologies (ICT) and technological developments on business models, especially the financing of commercial broadcasting, and to reassure optimal conditions of competitiveness and legal certainty for Europes information technologies and its media industries and service, as well as respect for ethnical and linguistic diversity.





Having regard to the proposal from the Commission,

Having regard to the opinion of the European Economic and Social delegacy (1),

Having regard to the opinion of the Committee of the Regions (2),

The laws, regulations and administrative measures in Member States concerning the pursuit of television broadcasting activities are already coordinated by Directive 89/552/EEC, whereas the rules applicable to activities such as on-demand audiovisual media work claim disparities, some of which may impede the free movement of those services within the European Community and may distort contention within the internal market.

Acting in accordance with the social occasion laid down in Article 251 of the Treaty (3),
